The Tullimonstrum is a Carboniferous fish that is related to modern day Hagfish. Its long tube that is its mouth attaches to a prey animal and start drinking the blood. It is only recently been placed in the Hagfish family and this fish is the state fossil of Illinois and was part a documentary called Prehistoric Chicago. It is believed that these fish lived in shallow tropical coastal waters.
