Like many other stegosaurians, Gigantspinosaurus had plates all down its back and spikes on its tail which uses it to defend itself and to protect its progeny from predators. Two large spikes were above its hips, and may have been used for deterring an attack from above but it also uses it for hand-to-hand Fighting.
